Camping is supposed to be fun, but sometimes it isn’t…..
Setting up or breaking down a ground tent in the rain is one of the least enjoyable things you can do in the outdoors (aside from getting eaten by a bear).
Weather is the primary reason that we made the switch to a roof top tent, but what are some of the other reasons?
First and foremost, COMFORT!! Roof top tents have extremely comfortable, self contained mattresses, and there is no air mattress to blow up. There is also no air mattress to deflate when packing for home, or worse yet, to deflate unexpectedly in the middle of the night when you’re supposed to be sleeping.
Comfortable temperatures are also easier to achieve with RTT’s. Being off the ground helps keep you warmer, but being off the ground also makes air flow easier for when it’s sweltering outside.
The advantage of being elevated also helps keep pests out. Setting up a tent on the ground is an open invitation to every critter in the forest.
Finally, setup and take down is considerably easier and faster with a roof top tent. When we camp, we want to get straight to the fun. Spending 30 minutes setting up a ground tent is not what we call fun, and trying to fold up a damp and dirty ground tent when it’s time to go home is even less fun.
We hope this blog entry is helpful to anybody who is on the fence about roof top tents. We made the switch years ago, and there is no turning back now.
At KB Voodoo, if there’s one thing we know, it’s tonneau compatible truck bed crossbars.
In 2015 we created the worlds first truck bed crossbars specifically designed for use with tonneau covers, and we have continued to develop them ever since.
Nobody has more experience with tonneau cover crossbars!!
Here are some pics from the past and present.
Getting in as many rides as we can before the cold hits. Before we know it, we’ll be swapping the bike mounts out for ski clamps. The good news is our Pro-X crossbars are the perfect building block for any seasonal build.
Right now we’re running the Pro-X crossbars with bike mounts and a ROAM box to get the most out of these last few weeks of biking season. The ROAM box is a great addition to any bed bar build as it can be installed easily to our extruded crossbars and is the perfect location to store muddy gear after a long ride.
The shop Gladiator is quickly becoming one of our favorites. Few vehicles handle off-roading as well as this thing and we’ve been getting the most of it. We’ve added a 1.5” TeraFlex leveling kit for some added clearance and plan to add 2” spacers soon for a more aggressive stance.
With winter right around the corner, now is the time to get the gear you’ll need for another successful year on the slopes. Our Pro-X bed bars are the perfect addition to any ski or snowboard enthusiast’s truck. The high strength slotted extrusion design allows you to easily mount ski or snowboard carriers. A few good brands to consider when purchasing a ski carrier are Thule, Rhino Rack, and Yakima. They offer multiple options that mount directly to our Pro-X crossbars.
Our PRO-X Crossbars for use with Retrax tonneau covers are perfect for Roof Top Tents, ski racks, bike racks, and cargo baskets. These bars can be mounted directly to the integrated Trax Rail System on your RetraxONE XR retractable tonneau cover.
Also works with Pace Edwards UltraGroove tonneau covers.
KB Voodoo Fabrications has multiple options for customers looking to carry their roof top tents, bikes, ski racks, and cargo baskets above their bed while keeping a low profile.
PRO-X Crossbars, compatible with tonneau covers, fits Jeep Gladiator
The PRO-X Crossbars sit 6” above the side rails of the bed, measure 3” wide x 1.5” high and are made from high strength extruded aluminum. With a dynamic load rating of 300lbs and static rating of 800lbs, these bars will take anything you throw at them and are compatible with most tonneau covers.
The Best Powder Coating in the Industry!
Our uprights are sandblasted to achieve a surface profile that paint can really stick to. After sandblasting, they are sprayed with a zinc-rich primer, then they are powder coated, and finally they are cured in a 400° oven. The curing process formulates a protective skin and promotes adhesion of the coating.
PRO-X Lo-Rise Crossbars, fits Jeep Gladiator
The PRO-X Lo- Rise Crossbars sit directly on the top rails of the bed, measure 3” wide x 1.5” high and are made from high strength extruded aluminum. With a dynamic load rating of 300lbs and static rating of 800lbs, these bars will take anything you throw at them and are intended for use without a tonneau cover.
