The Original Tonneau Cover Crossbar System

How did it come to be?

Way back in 2016, members of the TacomaWorld community asked us to create a truck bed crossbar system that would attach to the inside of a truck bed, then wrap around the outside of a tonneau cover, so that they could carry items like skis, tents, bikes, cargo baskets, and kayaks above the bed.

It was a great idea, so we obliged.

These photos show the first prototypes being installed on our Toyota Tacoma in November 2016

Since then, materials have changed, the bars have been strengthened and improved, and we have expanded the product to fit every truck on the market. We have multiple styles for multiple applications.

Our PRO-X truck bed crossbars use an aluminum T-track crossbar which allows for easy attachment of accessories.

Our brand new PRO-XE truck bed crossbars add an optional molle panel system.

KB Voodoo also offers a LO-RISE truck bed crossbar system.

KB Voodoo invented the tonneau compatible truck bed crossbar, and we will continue to innovate moving forward.

Who Are We?

Simply put, we are a truck bed rack company. That’s it, nothing else.

There are many things that we could build just to sell, just to make money, but we specialize in one thing, and we do it better than anyone else.

We are not a marketing company, in fact, we aren’t very good at marketing. We do not provide products to influencers in trade for a “review”, we find that to be disingenuous.

We are not an “overlanding store”. We do not sell products from other companies, we only sell products that we make.

Who invented modular truck bed racks?

In 2016, KB Voodoo invented the modular truck bed rack. Since then many other companies have stepped in with their own version of that product. Other companies borrow ideas, but we continue to innovate and drive the industry.

Who Invented Tonneau Compatibe Truck Bed Racks

Shortly after inventing the modular truck bed rack, KB Voodoo pioneered tonneau cover compatibility for truck bed racks. Prior to that, if you wanted a tonneau cover and a bed rack, you had to make it work on your own. We made the process simple.

What does the future look like for KB Voodoo?

We will continue to find better ways to enhance the capability of your truck. We have a lot of great ideas for future designs, so stay tuned.

Can You Fold a Softopper Under a Bed Rack?

We are often asked this question, here is the answer:

YES, you can fold a Softopper when installed with our bed racks, but it cannot be folded in the traditional way.

When folded in the traditional manner, the canopy grows in height, which will interfere with the bottom of the bed rack.

So how do we fold the Softopper?

The first step is to unsnap the bottom of the canvas along each side of the topper and flip the canvas sides up on top of the canopy, and also remove the four straps from the D-rings.

The next step is to remove the tubular frame of the topper from the pins inside the canopy, now the entire frame of the topper can “drop down”.

Pull the entire frame/canvas assembly rearward a bit, now you can fold the topper forward. After the topper is folded forward, reattach the frame to the pins. The canopy is now folded and secure.

Reverse this procedure to put the Softopper back up.

We hope this helps!! If you have any questions about this procedure, let us know.
